In 2010, Furuyama is the fifth generation to manage his family’s fruit farm. While ordinary peaches have a sugar content of 11-14 degrees, and the Guinness World Record is 22 degrees, the “Akatsuki Neo” peaches from the Farm recorded a sugar content of 40.5 degrees. The characteristic intense sweetness of the peaches is the result of land improvement efforts for the past 10 year. Furuyama’s initiatives include providing classes on agriculture at the local kindergarten to universities, and focusing on the development of successors in Fukushima.

明治16年創業の5代目果樹園として、2010年4月に就農。通常の桃の糖度は11～14度、ワールドギネスレコードでは22度というなか、同園の桃「あかつきネオ」はギネスを遥かに超える糖度40.5度を記録。長年取り組んでいる土地改良が功を奏した濃厚な甘みが特徴であり、植物の限界に近い糖度を達成する。また、地域の幼稚園～大学と幅広い世代に向けて農業授業を行っており、後継者育成にも力を入れ、活動を進めている。
