Based at the Haragama port in Soma City, Fukushima, Iizuka’s family has run a wholesale fishery business for three generations. The port is close to a fishing ground where the cold current and the warm current, is known for its high fish haul rates and diverse species. After the disaster, he developed a dumpling made with the deep-sea fish, brown hakeling (donko). The dumplings are normally served as a meal for fishermen. By creating a newly branded product from donko, he demonstrates his dedication to the recovery of the fishery industry.
親潮と黒潮が季節的に交差し、漁獲量・魚種共に豊富な漁場の福島県相馬市・原釜港を拠点とした三代目の水産仲卸業。魚介類・鮮魚を出荷すると共に、タコのボイル加工、アンコウの切身加工等、一次加工・販売も手掛ける。震災後、漁師の賄い飯「どんこ(エゾイソアイナメという深海魚)」の身と肝を混ぜたつみれを商品化、「どんこ」のブランド化を通して、相馬市及び漁業復興にも献身的に取り組んでいる。
